Testing

Testing power unit board

Tests vary depending on the type and specifications of the power supply, and the purpose of the testing.

By testing a switch mode power supply, we can determine:

  1. If the power supply meets its specifications, such as input voltage range, output voltage and current, ripple and noise, line and load regulation, efficiency, and protection levels.
  2. If the power supply is reliable and meets the desired MTBF requirement.
  3. If the power supply is stable and can maintain its performance under different environmental conditions and changes in load.
  4. If the power supply is safe to use, with proper protection mechanisms against overload, short circuit, and over-temperature.

In summary, testing a switch mode power supply provides information on its performance, reliability, stability, and safety.
